Legends Of Jazz Guitar - Volume 2 (legends Of Jazz Guitar) This hourlong compilation of clips, spanning 1964 to 1987, features jazz guitar virtuosos Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell, Charlie Byrd, and Grant Green. Taken from footage originally performed on the BBC, on public television, and at jazz festivals, it will certainly appeal to students of the jazz guitar, and most likely to general jazz fans as well. A couple of the performances stand out -- Kessel, Burrell, and Green all jam together on the 1969 version of "Blue Mist," with each of them taking solo turns. Also impressive are Montgomery's pair of mid-'60s clips (of "Full House" and "'Round Midnight"), the only ones on this anthology that are in black-and-white rather than color. ~ Richie Unterberger, AMG Review this product + Add to my saved list |
