Crossfire Trail Rafe Covington is as good as his word, and he's determined to keep his promise to a dying man that he'll look after the man's widow and Wyoming ranch. But the widow doubts the integrity of drifter Covington. And an unscrupulous land grabber and his gunmen are sizing up the ranch the way a spider eyes a fly.Tom Selleck plays Covington in this stirring Western that reteams him with Simon Wincer, who directed Selleck in Quigley Down Under and also helmed the award-winning Lonesome Dove. Star and filmmaker again score a bull's-eye, steeped in the cowboy way that source novelist Louis L'Amour knew better than anyone. Valour, grit, uprightness - the signposts of the heroic West mark the Crossfire Trail. Review this product + Add to my saved list |

Frisco Kid It's 1850 and new rabbi Avram Belinski sets out from Philadelphia toward San Francisco. Cowpoke bandit Tom Lillard hasn't seen a rabbi before. But he knows when one needs a heap of help. And getting this tenderfoot to Frisco in one piece will cause a heap of trouble - with the law, Native Americans and a bunch of killers. Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford are one feisty team as rabbi and rescuer in this rough-'n'-ready romp that rivals Wilder's earlier Blazing Saddles in Wild West hilarity. Director Robert Aldrich is a seasoned hand at blending roughhouse and laughter, as fans of his earlier The Dirty Dozen and The Longest Yard will attest. With a full posse of screen talents, The Frisco Kid rides tall in the comedy saddle. Lonestar John Sayles' Lone Star begins as a riveting whodunit about the unsolved murder of a corrupt lawman. Soon it becomes much more - an intriguing saga of clashing cultures and dirty dealings in a Texas border town; and a moving look at parents and children at odds; and the passions of forbidden love across generations. Lone Star (an Academy Award nominee for its screenplay) takes on the heady complexity of a page-turner novel as its multilayered plot unfolds, showcasing Sayles' gift for assembling the best ensemble casts. Chris Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, Kris Kristofferson, Elizabeth Pena, Joe Morton, Frances McDormand and more give rich performances. It's "a great movie with staying power, Leah Rozen of People wrote, "a journey well worth taking." Review this product + Add to my saved list |

Texans: Pg 1938 In the wake of the Civil War, the defeated South was overrun by carpetbaggers, con-men eager and corrupt politicos, all scheming to grab every possible dollar. "The Texans" tells the story of a family of ranchers who decide to herd their cattle north in order to escape the heavy taxes imposed by these greedy money-grubbers. But the trip proves more difficult than they expected, as they battle fires, blizzards and -- worst of all -- other human beings who would like to prevent them from successfully reaching their destination.
